History

BIS (Bio Implant Services) was established in 1988. In 2010, BIS merged with NBF (Netherlands Bone Bank Foundation) to become BISLIFE Foundation.
In 2017, the activities of Sanquin’s bone bank in Nijmegen were acquired. Since January 2018, BISLIFE (based in Leiden) merged with Euro Tissue Bank in Beverwijk. The new organisation was named ETB-BISLIFE.

The processing facility in Nijmegen prepares femoral heads and costal cartilage from living donors into ready-to-use grafts. It also offers storage services for cranial bone for autologous applications.
